Planning for Pastor Meg’s 9-week sabbatical next summer has begun. The elders are in the process of determining interim coverage while she is away and will keep the congregation informed when a decision has been made.

 General Church Announcements

 Nursery Volunteers: We need additional nursery volunteers! If you are willing to do this, please contact and she will guide you through the background check you need to do, unless you have already done so in the DCCRC church.

Parking: On Sundays, please don’t block the handicap ramp when you park.

The 6:30 Bible study is beginning a study of two books by Frederick Buechner:  Telling the Truth:  The Gospel as Tragedy, Comedy, and Fairy Tale and The Remarkable Ordinary:  How to Stop, Look, and Listen to Life.  On Saturday, January 13, Kathy Heetderks will lead a discussion of Telling the Truth, Parts I and II. The book is available from Amazon in hardcover. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Rod and Evonne Ludema in Rockville.  If you would like to learn about the study group, please contact Kathy at  If you would like transportation from a metro station, please contact Evonne at  All are invited to this kick-off meeting of our study of these books by Buechner, a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist.

Adult Sunday school:  On 14, (student at the Univ. of Virginia) will be leading us in a discussion of Christian response to the white supremacy movement.

Book Group is reading In the Midst of Winter by Isabelle Allende for our next breakfast meeting, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20 at Siyroush’s. All are welcome.
